about Melissa H. Daugherty, LCSW
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of clinical experience in counseling individuals, couples, and families. I graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 1993 with a Master of Science in Social Administration and in 1991 from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology.
From June of 1993 to July of 2005, I worked in various out-patient and in-patient settings before starting private practice. In July 2005, I decided to try and practice 'behavioral health medicine' in a new way. So, I established New Perspectives Counseling Services and dedicated myself to providing quality mental health services and care that treated the whole person, not just the symptoms. It was then I also found a strong calling to become a voice to normalize emotional and mental health needs and promote using mental health services, just as one would care for their body and see a doctor for their physical health issues .
Over the years, I've been a long-standing member of NASW, the National Association of Social Workers, and a member of AACC, the American Association of Christian Counselors.
On a personal note, I live near the Clarion area and have two adult children. In addition to work and spending time with my small circle of family and friends, I love spending time in nature, working on landscaping and creative projects, watching movies, and playing with my pets. I'm also very much dedicated to my own personal and spiritual journey, and living a healthy, simple life.
